Originally opened in 2005, Crown Sports Center in Fruitland, MD recently changed ownership and received a major facelift both inside and outside of it’s walls.
We were honored to be a part of the external face lift which is noticed before you make your way into the amazing new inside.
We were contracted with the sole purpose of giving the outside a personality and look that defined the company’s prime goals of being a facility where serious athletes come to grow into the best versions of themselves.
A mural was proposed via the client to help with a facade improvement over a complete replacement.
First up, almost roughly 8,000 sq ft to power wash and sections which needed removal of old broken down paint which covered a considerable portion of the wall itself.
Our client was fairly specific in their design goals: Sharp Lines, Clean Shapes, and Use of New Brand Colors.
With a completely corrugated siding we new this job would take precision, focus, and most patience!
In order to get sharp lines that expand sometimes over 100 feet you ultimately work back and forth with adjustments taking place each step.
No line is perfect on it’s first go. (Although we definitely got close!)
This was our first time dealing with shapes in this manner and we must admit it was quite fun!
Going from a computer design to a real life one is always challenging and comes with quite the reward once the layout is complete and the paint starts getting filled in!
Lettering and logo design/placement on a surface like this takes careful measurements and another round of patience.
Elements like this can’t just be close to their original, they HAVE to be exact.
A company logo is a company logo. There is no room for error what so ever.
Ultimately, this project became our second largest install to date
(second to Evolution Brewery which didn’t span as far but covered a larger portion
and utilized a considerable more amount of paint/materials)!
