This mural isn’t just paint on a wall—it’s a message that matters.

At Stephen Decatur High School in Berlin, MD, a bold idea became a lasting tribute: that mental health is just as important as physical health—especially for student-athletes. What began as a vision from a passionate group of students and staff has grown into a public statement of resilience, compassion, and community unity.

The mural was created in honor of Morgan’s Message®, a national nonprofit founded in memory of Morgan Rodgers. Morgan’s Message is dedicated to eliminating the stigma surrounding mental health in athletics. The organization champions the equal treatment of mental and physical health, while empowering young people to speak up, support one another, and seek help without shame.

With support from the Worcester County Arts Council and the Freeman Arts Pavilion, this project was made possible through a combination of start-up funding, creative collaboration, and deep community investment. It also received media support from local outlets like OC Today-Dispatch and DelmarvaLife, helping amplify the message far beyond the school walls.

What makes this mural even more powerful is the process behind it. From months of planning to hands-on participation, the entire journey was rooted in care and collaboration. The design was led by one of our own, @chloektattoos, as her first major mural project—crafted with purpose and heart. She was joined by @sahraera, whose talent and creative steadiness helped bring it all together.

On paint day, over 100 students and staff came out to contribute their time, energy, and brushstrokes. That kind of turnout proves what we’ve always believed at WALS: when you invite the community into the process, the outcome is more meaningful—and the impact multiplies. This mural is as much theirs as it is ours.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the incredible Decatur staff—Lindsay Owens, Shannon Bone, and Wendy Shirk—whose leadership and vision made this possible. Thank you to the student leaders who carried this initiative forward with power and passion. And thank you to the Ocean City community for showing up and surrounding this project with love.

This mural is a visual reminder to every student who walks these halls:
You are not alone. You are not weak. Your mental health matters.

At We Are Limitless Studios, we don’t just paint walls—we empower people. We believe murals have the power to educate, connect, and heal. And this project reminded us exactly why we do what we do.

📸 Special thanks to The Brand for capturing behind-the-scenes content throughout the day, and to @jay_productions3 for the incredible photography that helped us document and preserve the moment.

🎥 A mini-documentary of this project is currently in the works—stay tuned.

In short, the Morgan’s Message Wall was born from the incredible spirit of a community that cares deeply. And it now stands as a message that will echo far beyond the paint.
